Isuzu 117s are awesome. If you don't like them I worry about you. Styled by Giugiaro at Ghia, 130 horsepower twincam engine, spirited handling. They're like an Alfa GTV that you can use as your daily driver.

This is also probably the best price I've seen on an early, round headlamp model (the kind you want). Sure, it has the wheels off of either a later 117 or a Piazza/Impulse, but imagine it on a set of Watanabes. Or Hayashi Streets. Or Work Equips. Or hell, even American Racing Libres.

This one is going for $8,710. That is quite the shade of yellow, and the blue interior it has is such a poor match to the yellow it kinda works, in a weird way. This is why I hate being broke, although it is a blessing, since otherwise, I'd be up to my neck in oddball Japanese cars.

"They're like an Alfa GTV that you can use."

There, I fixed that for ya.

I chuckled.

Really, though, they're one of the most drawback-free cars you can buy. There's really little else that offers the 117's combination of style, performance and reliability.

It's a lovely looking little car (if a bit too yellow for my tastes) and you're guaranteed exclusivity at virtually any car show you attend.

It's similar to how the Miata created a classic British roadster that you can actually DD, like you said this is an Alfa you can actually use.

There's a nice looking one already imported, and for sale in the Bay Area right now.

$ 12,000 I think.
